Sports Premium Reports
The Government is providing additional funding to improve the provision of physical education (PE) and sport in primary schools. The money is provided by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport. It is allocated to primary school headteachers and can only be spent on the provision of PE and sport in schools. Schools are held accountable for how the additional funding is used to support pupils’ progress and participation in PE and school sport.
At Knowsley Junior School, we are using our funding to improve PE and sport provision throughout Key Stage 2. We are employing specialist PE teachers, who are also qualified coaches, to work alongside teachers in lessons to enhance the teaching and learning of PE.
Our coaches also deliver high-quality after-school sports clubs, which provides them with the opportunity to identify gifted and talented children. They are then able to offer these children additional coaching.
As part of the Saddleworth Sports Cluster we aim to ease transition between Springhead Infant School and Knowsley. We have joined together to participate in Multiskills tournaments held at Saddleworth School.
