Oldham Music Service
Knowsley offers music lessons for children to learn either a violin, brass or woodwind instrument. It has been proven in many studies that there are a number of benefits to learning to play a musical instrument, including social, academic and musical skills. Tuition is provided in small groups for 30 minutes each week, during curriculum time, by staff from Oldham Music Centre. Instruments are provided.
The cost of lessons, including the use of an instrument, is £110.00 per term (£330.00 for the year). The Music Centre requires all borrowed instruments to be insured. They are often covered under a household policy but if they are not, it is cheap and easy to do.

School Orchestra
The orchestra meets for a 30 minute rehearsal every Friday in the hall from 8:25 run by Mr Wilson and Mrs Barrass. Children will be invited to join this when they are ready. The children may come in through the main entrance and sign in
Please encourage your child to practise their instrument at home – a little and often is the best way to progress. Also, please help them remember to label it and bring it plus their music and practise notebook on the correct day.
The children will have a chance to perform in assemblies and at a big evening concert in the spring. We also are also invited to perform at other venues such as the Oldham School’s Music Festival at the Queen Elizabeth Hall, Oldham in June.

Singing Club
Singing Club is open to any children who enjoy singing on a first come, first served basis. They practise on a Thursday after school with Mrs Scott and Mrs Lowther. This is a free after-school club.

In Oldham, we are lucky enough to have a fabulous music service and, during these challenging times, they are still offering instrumental lessons online. At Knowsley, you can start (or continue) to learn the flute, clarinet, violin or any of the brass instruments.
