Expectations for school uniform

At Knowsley, we firmly believe in the value of a school uniform and ask for your cooperation in maintaining the school’s high standards of appearance. Your child should wear the correct school uniform, including footwear, every day. If children come to school wearing incorrect clothing, they will be provided with clean uniform to wear during the school day, which should be washed and returned to school. On days when they have a PE lesson, all children should come to school wearing the correct school uniform and bring their PE kit to school in a bag. All items of school uniform, including PE kits, must be clearly labelled with your child’s name.
All children must wear plain, black footwear (trainers or shoes) – brightly coloured trainers or footwear, crocs and open-toed sandals are not permitted. If children cannot tie their own shoelaces, they should wear Velcro shoes/trainers. School sweatshirts, zipped fleeces and PE T-shirts, embroidered with the school logo, are available from:

Debonair,
Unit 15,
Henshaw Street,
Oldham,
OL1 1NH.

Sportswear with branded logos and football clothing of any type are not permitted for PE lessons or extracurricular activities. Children are not allowed to wear any type of make-up, including nail varnish/false nails. Long hair should be tied back and hair accessories should be in the school colours. If a child wears a headscarf for religious reasons, it should be plain and in one of the school colours. For health and safety reasons, headscarves must be removed for PE lessons.

All jewellery must be removed for PE activities. Please avoid having your child’s ears pierced during term time as they will be unable to take part in PE (including swimming) and extracurricular sporting activities. For health and safety reasons, it is not acceptable to wear plasters over earrings. If your child cannot take out their own earrings, they should be removed before coming to school.
